One memorable Thursday 1/6/2006
Here are some photos I took at my first-ever Dodger home game at Chavez Ravine. And what a memorable game it was. Enjoyable 7-2 victory to start the four-game set against ever-dangerous Philadelphia Phillies.
Top photo: outside the Dodger Stadium.
There were three of us at the game: Rudy, Eddie and myself. The guys tried to get me prepared for the incoming traffic before the game but all in all it was not quite as bad as advertized (right).
We came just a second late as Derek Lowe was already working on his second batter of the night (left).
We had great seats some fifteen rows back from 1st base a little bit up the RF line. And no-one sit directly in front of me as if they knew I'd need to soak the atmosphere of the stadium as much as I could.
By about the bottom of the third the whole stadium was jam-packed (or so it seemed). Watching Dodger baseball on TV I never realized how loud forty-odd thousand Dodger fans could be! It seemed like we had to speak on top of our voices to comment on the plays, even though we had all three seats next to one another. Unbelievable.
With the game being quickly out of reach of the Phillies (7-0 at one point) surprisingly few people stayed till the end of the game. I was told this was because of the traffic on the way out in the evening. If we had a car like this one on the left, we might have beaten the traffic ;).
Anyway, we stayed to savor every last bit and see the handshakes around the mount preceded by a "we want Gagne" chant that Dodger PR guy, Josh Rawitch, did not particularly like. For one, I did scream in favor of Eric to get Grady Little's attention, even though the whole enterprise had proven futile as Gagne made his season debut only the following night :).
Anyway, I had a great time at Chavez Ravine. I'm quite sure I'll be back one day. The magic of the Dodger Stadium got better of me and I know it won't let go... :)

What row and section did you sit in? Those were good seats!
We had 28FD, row X, seats 1-4. Less than twenty rows up from first base, several feet towards RF under the upper deck roof.
I agree - these were pretty good seats and great views!
