Current prospectus notebook on the Dodgers

Sleepless and tired as I am, I could not miss the June 2 edition of the Baseball Prospectus on the Dodgers (down the page). There's some extensive statistical wrap up available at the accompanying pages, including the current VORP situation:

1. I did not realize that Kenny Lofton was our second best value-over-replacement-player on the current roster. Wow!

2. At this stage, if based only on VORP (which it will not be done) Jose Cruz jr is easily the most replaceable part of our outfield. Even if/when Matt Kemp is sent down, the outfield of Ethier (6.5) - Lofton (12.3) - Drew (10.9) is superior to any other VORP combination we could have out there.

3. Poor and inconsistent as he was Danny Baez is still more productive than Brett Tomko.

4. Yet another way to find out that Tim Hamulack's place is Vegas, while Odalis Perez's - another team's bullpen.

To compliment the above stats, I would highly advise you read Jon Weisman's much more extensive analysis of how good these Dodgers are. Great insight.
